Prayers of Adoration and Confession for Easter
Before all life, O God, you knew and lived.
Before all death, O God, you knew and lived.
Before all creation and all flesh, O God, you dreamed and breathed and hoped and knew and let go.
We praise you.
When human life came to be, O God, you dreamed and breathed and hoped and knew.
When you became flesh itself in Jesus, O God, you dreamed and breathed and hoped and hurt.
When you were killed in flesh, O God, you dreamed and hoped… and proved you knew more than your humanity could ever know.
We praise you who turned death into life.
We praise You, O God, who holds dreams of our wholeness.
We praise You, O God, who breathes life into our bodies.
We praise You, O God, who hopes we will claim your death defying love.
We praise You, O God, who knows us and loves us still.
God, you do know.
You know our idle dreams, our breathless worries, our misplaced hopes. You know. You know what we have not said, what we hold back, what we do not give. You know how afraid we are to take you seriously and how afraid of you we are.
You know.
Forgive us what we cannot even bear to say. In the silence of this day of Easter promise, we try to name what you know, yet need us to say.
O God of dreams and breath and hope and knowledge, You do forgive us. In the power of your Holy Spirit, gives us grace to accept ourselves as you accept us. On this day of Easter promise, let us know we are your forgiven people.
Amen
